Keep the original protective dressing, wrap or second skin on for the time recommended (usually a few hours to a day).
Gentle First Wash: Carefully remove the dressing, wash the tattoo with mild, unscented, antibacterial soap and lukewarm water, using clean hands. Gently remove all plasma, blood, and excess ink.
Pat Dry: Gently pat the area completely dry with a clean paper towel. Never rub with a cloth towel, which can harbor bacteria.
Initial Thin Layer of Ointment: Apply a very small amount of ointment as provided or recommended by the artist for the first few days. It must be a thin layer.
Maintain Regular Cleaning: Wash the tattoo 2-3 times daily and pat dry and apply thin layer of ointment for the entire healing process (approx. 3 weeks)
Avoid Submerging: Do not soak the tattoo in baths, pools, hot tubs, or bodies of water for at least 2-3 weeks. Quick showers are fine.
Resist Picking/Scratching: Once the tattoo begins to peel and scab (a normal part of healing), do not scratch, pick, or peel the flaking skin. Let it fall off naturally.
Protect from Sun: Keep the fresh tattoo out of direct sunlight and tanning beds for the entire healing period (at least 2-3 weeks). Sun exposure can severely fade and damage it.
Long-Term Sunscreen Application: After the tattoo is fully healed, consistently apply a high SPF sunscreen to the area whenever exposed to the sun to maintain the ink's vibrancy and clarity over time.
